  • You have two investment pathways under the Active Investor Plus Visa:

    • Growth Category: Requires a minimum investment of NZ$5 million, maintained for 3 years. The physical presence requirement is just 21 days over that period.

    • Balanced Category: Requires a minimum investment of NZ$10 million, maintained for 5 years, with a standard stay requirement of 105 days over five years - this can be reduced with higher additional investments.

  • Only the main applicant must meet the physical presence requirement. Family members don’t have a stay obligation.

    • Growth Category: 21 days total over three years—often as few as 7 days per year.

    • Balanced Category: 105 days total over five years, but this can drop to as low as 63 days with higher additional investments (up to NZ$13 million or more).

    • Low residency requirements: Compared to many programs, the stay required is minimal (just days per year rather than months).

    • Flexible investment options:

      • Growth Category focuses on high-impact, active investment (approved businesses or managed funds).

      • Balanced Category allows a mix of bonds, listed equities, property development, philanthropy, and growth-type investments.

    • No English language requirement: Unlike many other programs, there’s no IELTS or similar needed.

    • Streamlined path to permanent residency: Once investment and stay requirements are met, applicants (and included family) become eligible for permanent residence

  • Yes. Your spouse/partner and dependent children up to 24 years old can be included in one application. Once approved, they all receive resident status and are entitled to live, work, and study in New Zealand.
